Ignition interlock devices in Tennessee

Tennessee runs the program through the court: you need an Order for Restricted Driver License signed by a judge before any provider will fit the device, plus SR-22 insurance. The order is also what the provider uses to calculate how long you serve, so the paperwork sets the clock. As for how long: set by the court order for a restricted license (form ORDL signed by the judge), which the provider uses to calculate your time in the program.

Tennessee publishes its own figures rather than leaving it all to vendors: up to $225 to fit the device and up to $125 a month while it stays on the car, and the monthly figure is a ceiling an approved provider may not exceed. Removal is billed separately at the end of the term.

A recorded event is not automatically a violation, and that distinction decides most cases.
