Why this site exists
If a court has ordered an ignition interlock, almost everything you find online is published by a company that wants to sell you one. Every price is their price, every comparison ends with them, and the center they show you is theirs.
We are not a manufacturer, an installer, or a monitoring authority. We do not fit devices and we cannot shorten your term. What we do is keep an independent record of the market: 10,531 certified installation centers across 51 states and 4,901 cities, who runs them, and what a full term actually costs.
Where our data comes from
Center listings are compiled from providers’ own public location directories and normalised into unique physical addresses — where two providers work out of the same garage, we count the garage once. Legal requirements are taken from the state agency that publishes them, with a link to the source and the date we checked.
How a figure gets onto this site
Saying that we check things is worth nothing on its own, so here is the actual mechanism. Every number and every legal statement on the site is an entry in a register, and an entry carries the claim itself, the source it came from, the date it was checked and a note on how. The register currently holds 802 claims, drawn from 148 distinct sources, of which 118 are government or court domains. The most recent check was made on 2026-09-06.
The register is not decorative. Each entry stores a fingerprint of the exact wording that was verified, so editing a sentence invalidates its check and the claim goes back into the queue rather than quietly carrying an old approval on new text. That is the failure mode this is built against: not the lie, but the figure that was true when someone wrote it and has been drifting ever since.
Three further gates run over the whole site before anything is published. One measures how much of each page is its own writing rather than shared template, and holds pages below the line back. One compares every page against every other and flags near duplicates, because a page that only differs by a place name should not exist. One walks every link on all 10,531-plus records and refuses a release with a broken one. None of that makes us right. It makes us checkable, which is the most any guide in this field can honestly offer.
Where a state publishes no figure, we say so instead of estimating. That is why some cells on the cost pages read “not published” while competitors show a confident national average — the average exists, it just is not a fact about your state.
Who is behind it
One person: Nick Hale. There is no newsroom here and no investor. I compiled the center database from providers’ own public directories, read the state regulations the price and legal figures come from, and check each one against its source before it goes up.
What I am not is worth stating plainly, because in this field almost everyone is one of them. I am not a lawyer and cannot advise on your case. I have never worked for an interlock manufacturer, an installer or a monitoring authority, and no company in this industry pays me or has any say in what appears here. If that ever changes, the disclosure page says so before anything else on the site does.

What we will not do
